If you’ve suddenly found yourself working from home, you’re probably trying to figure out how to settle in and stay focused. How can you turn your favorite hangout area into a Home Workspace where you can take care of business for eight hours a day? Making useful improvements that can convert your house into a focus-friendly setting doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are seven little changes you may make to improve your Work from home experience.
Small Tweaks That Will Make Your Home Workspace More Comfortable
Get a Good Work Surface
First and foremost, you’ll want a location to set up shop and, well, operate. It’s fantastic if you have a dedicated office with a desk. Fantastic if you live alone and can use the kitchen or coffee table. That wooden kitchen chair isn’t going to cut it if you’re going to be sitting all day. Invest in a supportive, comfy desk chair that won’t leave you sore at the end of the day. If you don’t have room for a new seat, at the very least get a cushion.
Set Up By A Window
Natural light has been shown to increase productivity and enhance happiness. If feasible, place your desk near a window so you may get some fresh air and a glimpse of the outside world. This will not only make you feel more alert, but it will also help you keep a sense of connection to nature. If you can’t set up shop near a window, attempt to sit as close as you can. Invest In A Good Pair Of Headphones
There’s no denying it: working from home will expose you to distractions. Outside, you’ll hear people conversing. Your neighbor’s music will be audible. Every door that opens and closes will be heard. Noise-canceling headphones will help you tune out the outside world and get into the zone.
Make Your Home Workspace…Well, Yours
Your home office should be a reflection of who you are, in addition to being a functional Home Workspace. Make it your own and inject some personality to make it more interesting. Photos of loved ones, mementos from previous vacations, or eye-catching art prints may turn your home office into a haven for remote workers. The only question now is whether to wear pants or not.
