Upwork is a fantastic resource whether you’re seeking to replace a full-time job or develop a second income. But first, you need to land a job. There is no disputing that the Proposal, or as Upwork refers to it, “the cover letter,” is the most important component that job posters take into account when determining which candidate to employ. So here are the Top Upwork Proposal Tips to win the client.

DO NOT USE A COPY & PASTE TEMPLATE!!!!

First of all, please stop doing this. They are useless. As a client, the majority of the proposals I’ve received have been copy-and-pasted templates. These are visible from a mile away. Stop doing this right away if you are. I can see the belief that copying and pasting a generic proposal will save time, but it will also be far less effective. A concise, highly relevant, and targeted proposal will be considerably more successful than a wordy, general one.

How Should NOT Write A Proposal

You must first comprehend the characteristics of a failing proposal to know how to draught a winning one. Once you notice the pattern, it will be simple for you to identify the errors that practically everyone else is doing and, more crucially, why you have such a ridiculous tactical edge over them!

To assist me with projects outside of my area of expertise, I have employed dozens of freelancers. everything from really basic data entry to highly advanced fields with significant pay. When I reviewed the submitted proposals, their poor quality stood out to me.

An ordinary proposal might look something like this. This contribution made in response to one of my most recent job advertisements; the name and pertinent personal was removed.

Although the candidate is well competent and has years of experience, this plan appears acceptable to the untrained eye, but in reality, it, like 99 percent of the others, fell short of the mark.

This structure demonstrates absolutely no concern for the client’s issue. It doesn’t even indicate that the client’s true concern is get recognition. Who you worked for and how long you did it doesn’t matter to anyone. They are interested in whether you can recognize and address their issue. They only ask that you take away their suffering!

How To Write A Proposal

If you know how to format a proposal, writing one is ridiculously simple. Here is the EXACT format I use for every proposal. I’ve refined this after sending in countless numbers of losers and winners.

Restate Their Core Problem

Here, after a brief “Hello!” I ask the consumer about their issue and then I repeat it in their own words. I can see that several of your financial procedures in your expanding organization need to be upgraded and offloaded. This has to come first for a few reasons, which I’ll go into more depth in later blogs, but for now, just trust me when I say it’s crucial.

Tell Them You Can Help Solve Their Problem

The one part of my proposal that I seldom update is this one. “I can help you with that and can start right now,” I say to them. The fact that the consumer is asking for assistance with an issue is crucial in this situation. They seek a quick resolution to their problem. They want to see that there is a solution on the horizon. You can provide them by saying that you want to help them and that you can get started right now.

Tell Them Why You’re A Good Fit

The reason you’re a good fit is then explained in two to three sentences. It does not need to be long only for the sake of length. Briefly explain why you’re the ideal candidate.

Describe The Process You’ll Guide Them Through

For me, this is the area that varies the most. I will spend two words to two paragraphs outlining the route I’ll lead them down, depending on how explicit the job posting’s requirements were. Give them a sneak preview of the procedure you’ll be taking them through. I believe this is the portion of your proposal where you can get away with a little more size if you’re going to expound on any of the topics. Inform them of the initial steps you would take with them.

Your credibility will greatly increase if you can provide an onboarding procedure or example that is well in design and well in documentation.

Here is a screenshot of the paper I often send with inquiries about new accounting customers. They will feel more at ease about collaborating with me if they can see that I have a structure and procedure for taking on new clients by seeing this attached to my proposal. It demonstrates to them that I am experienced, knows what I’m doing, and have a straightforward procedure that will make it simpler for them. I am at the top of the list because it demonstrates a high degree of professionalism.

I hope this would enable you to secure additional employment on Upwork. Please ask me a question in the comments. I’ll respond to each one of them!
